Amazon ready to rival Google’s e-bookstore

7 Dec 2010

Amazon is set to announce new additions to its Kindle for web that will see the company go head to head with Google’s e-bookstore launch yesterday, according to reports.

The new Amazon Kindle Web app will enable users to read entire books in their web browsers, and will enable any website to become a bookstore, according to Computerworld.com.

The Google e-bookstore boasts 3 million titles and the store is designed to be open to all devices, from netbooks to smartphones and e-readers.

Amazon is expected to announce additions to the Kindle service that match and provide stern competition to Google’s e-bookstore.

The new Kindle for web is not sale ready, however, and consumers can expect to wait until the new year before getting their hands on one.
