The days of the cheque are numbered and businesses need to embrace new concepts, like e-payments and mobile apps, Sage Ireland’s Liam Mullaney says.
If there is one man who would have his finger on the pulse of how firms are faring in the present economy, it would be Liam Mullaney, managing director of Sage Ireland.
Sage’s software enables the majority of SMEs’ and large firms’ accounts departments in Ireland to conduct payroll, invoicing, ERP (enterprise resource planning), CRM (customer relationship management) and local and cross-border electronic payments. You could argue that a significant proportion of the Irish economy is run on Sage.
But Mullaney laments the vicious circle many businesses find themselves trapped in today and looks forward to the day that cheque payments are a thing of the past and firms can get paid on time via e-commerce and more efficiently thanks to e-invoicing.
