The Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone
Samsung has managed to sell 20m units of its flagship phone – the Galaxy S II – 10 months after it first released the handset.
The Android smartphone first launched in April 2011 and was released in Ireland at the end of May. The phone proved to be popular and sold 5m units by July and 10m units by October.
The Samsung Galaxy S II is an 8.49-mm thick, dual-core smartphone with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED 480 x 800 resolution touchscreen and an 8-megapixel camera.
The device will soon become a year old and there is speculation Samsung could soon announce its successor, which has been dubbed the ‘Samsung Galaxy S III.’
Samsung reportedly said the next Galaxy S device won’t be unveiled at next week’s Mobile World Congress. Instead, it will launch it “in the first half of the year” at a dedicated event closer to its release date.
Many expect the next Galaxy S to have a faster processor and an improved screen.
