Facebook reports US$3.2bn revenues in Q3 – mobile ads account for 66pc of sales

Facebook is indeed an almost fully fledged mobile beast, with mobile ads accounting for 66pc of revenues in the third quarter. The company reported revenues of US$3.2bn and a net profit of US$806m for the quarter.

The social network said its total user base grew 2.27pc to 1.35bn people across the planet.

Out of this an estimated 1.12bn people are mobile users.

Facebook said it has 864m daily users, out of which 703m daily users access the social network via a mobile device, up 39pc on last year.

Revenue from advertising was US$2.96 billion, a 64pc increase from the same quarter last year.

Mobile advertising revenue represented approximately 66pc of advertising revenue for the third quarter of 2014, up from approximately 49pc of advertising revenue in the third quarter of 2013.

Payments and other fees revenue was US$246 million, a 13pc increase from the same quarter last year.

“This has been a good quarter with strong results,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO.

“We continue to focus on serving our community well and continue to invest in connecting the world over the next decade,” Zuckerberg said.
