Medical aesthetics company Allergan is to create 20 new advanced manufacturing jobs in Westport, Co Mayo, IDA Ireland has announced.
The $10m investment by Allergan will establish the production of its newest medical technology, SeriScaffold, in Westport, Co Mayo.
SeriScaffold is a bioresorbable silk-based surgery scaffold employed in tissue generation in many restorative areas, including breast reconstruction. Westport is the chosen location for this new investment as a result of the combination of high-tech engineering capabilities and scientific expertise.
“I would like to congratulate the management and staff at Allergan in Westport for winning this excellent investment,” said IDA CEO Barry O’Leary.
“It is encouraging that Ireland continues to win investments of this nature, demonstrating that advanced manufacturing activities remain as a fundamental part of Ireland’s foreign direct investment portfolio.”
“Building on its long history of continued investment in Ireland, this announcement is highly significant to Allergan and will help to further position its Irish operation as a centre of strategic importance within the parent company,” O’Leary added. “On behalf of IDA, I look forward to working with Allergan as the company further develops in Ireland.”
