Motorola spearheads move into Irelandís utilities sector
Communications giant Motorola has spearheaded a significant move into Irelandís utilities market, joining forces with a Meath-based SCADA systems provider and proving instrumental in winning a key deal with the ESB.
Dunboyne-based EMR Integrated Solutions, a specialist in the provision of radio communications and SCADA system integration, has been appointed by Motorola’s as a channel partner for the UK and Ireland.
The official appointment of EMR as a channel partner builds on the strong relationship that EMR and Motorola have established over the past number of years as the two companies worked jointly on large and complex SCADA projects in the water and utility sectors.
ESB Telecom Services contracts
The new status of the relationship is already paying significant dividends for the Meath-based company as it recently signed significant contracts with ESB Telecom Services for the supply of Motorola radio communications for power stations throughout the country.
These contracts have resulted in orders for systems for Ballyshannon, Cliff and Marina power stations. The systems provided by EMR integrate voice communications, plant alarms, telephone and email to improve response times and enhance worker safety.
“This moves the relationship to a new level and opens up more opportunities for both organisations to continue to expand our market presence in the water and utility sectors. Importantly for us, we have also been appointed in the UK,” said EMR Integrated Solutions managing director Mark Quinn.
“This presents us with a range of exciting opportunities for growth. In fact, working closely with Motorola, we have already qualified for supply frameworks for UK water utilities. The relationship with Motorola will strengthen our proposition in the UK and positions us well for continued growth in both markets.
“As a direct result of the appointment, we have already recruited three additional people to the team in sales and engineering support roles and we hope to build on that number in the months ahead,” Quinn added.
Making EMR channel partner
Andy Beever from Motorola explained that when the communications equipment giant decided to appoint a new channel partner for the Motorola Radio portfolio, EMR was an obvious choice.
“We have always been impressed by EMR’s commitment to high levels of engineering support and by its strong reputation in the Irish market.
“These factors, combined with the team’s professionalism and sales skills, make EMR an ideal partner for us to work with in order to increase our success in the Irish and UK markets where complete engineered solutions are required,” Beever said.
