The Samsung Galaxy S III
A new capability that will let users scroll pages on their device is being rumoured to be included in the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy IV smartphone.
Rumours surfaced overnight that the phone will include software and features that will track a user’s eyes to determine where to scroll.
Samsung will unveil its new device at a press conference in New York on 14 March.
According to the New York Times, sources from Samsung say some of the advanced new software features on the device will outweigh the hardware features.
Samsung is understood to have filed for a trademark in Europe for the name ‘Eye Scroll’ in January and filed for the ‘Samsung Eye Scroll’ in February.
The new feature-rich device will come with Android Jelly Bean 4.2, will be powered by an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU and is expected to feature a 13-megapixel rear camera.
The tech sector’s rumour mill has been in overdrive in recent weeks, with rumours ranging from Apple potentially launching an iOS-powered wristwatch to this latest eye-tracking feature in Samsung’s next smartphone.
Some more sanguine observers have pointed out that many of these leaks could be a cynical game by the respective tech giants’ PR apparatus to distract one another.
All will be revealed on 14 March and then the matter will be in the eye of the beholder (aka, the consumer).
