Irish company Netwatch’s US-based operations have been officially launched as part of its investment of more than €3m, creating 50 jobs between its Boston and Carlow-based operations over the next 18 months.
Thirty jobs will be created between its Boston and Carlow operations by the end of this year, boosting its workforce to more than 120 people.
The company offers real-time remote security monitoring to businesses and residences across the globe. All monitoring of the US sites will be undertaken by specialists and Netwatch’s Carlow-based operations. The firm also has operations in the UK.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny spoke at a reception to mark the opening of its North American headquarters in Boston, highlighting the close “social, cultural and economic” relationship between Boston and Ireland.
“That relationship is stronger today than ever before and it is reflected in the decision of Netwatch to establish its North American headquarters in this great city,” said Kenny.
“Harnessing modern technologies, Netwatch has changed the way security and protection services are provided to private individuals and to companies. It is now bringing this game-changing technology to North America with its establishment in Boston.
“Netwatch is a prime example of the potential of Irish services companies to become multinational companies, creating jobs and wealth not only for Ireland but also for Boston. I wish the company every success in its new venture,” he said.
David Walsh, chief executive of Netwatch, said he was “delighted” with the company’s success in North America and the reaction to its system.
“US companies understand immediately the advantage of managed protection services from Netwatch,” said Walsh.
In the past three months, we have successfully won a number of contracts in the greater Boston area, including providing protection services to Toyota Falmouth, one of the premier Toyota dealerships in Cape Cod,” he said.
