IGNITE to light a spark under budding entrepreneurs
UCC’s IGNITE programme is on the hunt for new applicants looking to kick-start a business idea for its next round starting in October.
IGNITE provides start-up funding and free incubation space, mentoring and support to graduates of any higher education institution who are interested in starting up a new business
The nine-month programme will accept 10 applicants and any recent graduates with a viable business idea (from any discipline and any third-level institution) are encouraged to apply.
Some of the products developed by participants in the IGNITE programme over the last two years include a smartphone app for oncologists, and websites StudentNews.ie, PetConnect.ie and Supply.ie, in which Enterprise Ireland recently invested €25,000.
“We believe that this programme is most appropriate for the times in which we live,” said Rónán Ó Dubhghaill, director of strategic planning at UCC. “The programme is an ideal bridge between the knowledge gained at third level and the challenges of starting up a business in the current economic environment.”
The closing date for applications is 1 June.
