Action Point Technology is set to employ 50 new staff members by 2014 as part of an expansion plan targeting overseas markets.
The technology services and software development specialist based in Plassey Technological Park, Limerick, is finalising the first phase of this expansion, which will involve the introduction of seven new posts. This will be followed immediately by the recruitment of 30 software developers for the second phase. The remaining positions – including project managers, sales and marketing staff, account management staff and engineers – will then be filled by 2014.
Finance Minister Michael Noonan made the announcement today at Kemmy Business School in the University of Limerick. Action Point CEO David Jeffreys, who co-founded the company in 2005 with fellow UL graduate John Savage, said: “This is a pivotal moment for Action Point as it marks an exciting phase of expansion of our company. Thanks to our unique proposition encompassing all aspects of technology and software development, we have achieved steady growth.”
Plans to export services to US and UK
With this expansion, Action Point is now setting ambitious targets for its specialist operation, and has been working with Enterprise Ireland in making plans to expand to the US and UK markets. “We believe that, as a business, Action Point very much mirrors a wider opportunity for the Irish economy in the years ahead,” said Jeffreys. “That’s in delivering highly advanced services and products for the export market.”
Action Point expects to mark an 84pc increase in turnover to €3.2m in the current financial year. The company currently employs 30 staff and, as well its Limerick base, has offices in Dublin and Cork.
