Aviva Ireland to create 220 jobs in Galway

6 Jul 2012

Despite the fact it is looking to shed 540 jobs, insurance company Aviva Ireland has kicked off a recruitment drive to fill 220 new roles in Galway.

Aviva Ireland had previously announced 770 job cuts but has reduced that number, saying earlier this year it would seek 540 redundancies over the next three years.

The new jobs, which will be filled over the next two years, are obviously not in areas where redundancies are being sought.

Those new positions will be based at Aviva’s existing facility in the Galway West Business Park in Knocknacarra. The company’s goal is for the facility to become a Aviva global Centre of Excellence, servicing both new claims and direct sales for the Irish and UK markets.

The recruitment drive was announced following a a cost-saving programme that led to more competitive cost and staffing structures, The Irish Independent reported.
