LinkedIn now has 200m reasons to smile – that’s the number of members the business social network has amassed in more than 200 countries and territories, at a rate of two people joining the site per second, the company has announced.
“This milestone is more than just a metric – it’s a reminder of the global footprint and the scale of impact our network has each day,” LinkedIn’s SVP of product and user experience, Deep Nishar, wrote on LinkedIn’s blog.
“Members come first at LinkedIn and we remain focused on creating economic opportunity for every professional in the world. We look forward to bringing the power of the LinkedIn network to many more professionals in the coming years.”
LinkedIn, which reached 100m members in March 2011, has registered more than 13m members since its last announcement on 1 November 2012.
The site receives more than 160m unique monthly visitors and is the 23rd most-visited web property in the world, according to comScore for the month of November 2012 (including SlideShare).
At the moment, more than 64pc of LinkedIn’s members are outside the United States, and the site is available in 19 languages.
