Daybreak Technologies, a new IT company headed up by the former CIO of Elan, Kevin Barrett, is to create 50 new jobs in Dublin.
In April, Elan transferred its IT operations, processes and assets to Daybreak, which became a new privately held company.
Elan entered into a services agreement outsourcing its IT functions to Daybreak.
“Daybreak offers a full suite of IT managed services in all aspects of the biotechnology industry,” Barrett said.
“Our team has extensive experience in implementing superior cost-effective solutions that are unique to biotechnology, as well as supporting corporate activities including mergers, acquisitions, product acquisitions, divestments and business restructuring.”
Targeting a US$500bn industry
Daybreak teams have successfully implemented information technology systems supporting research, development, product launch and commercialisation, finance, human resources, legal, compliance, and corporate executive functions.
Daybreak has been certified by Certification Europe to ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 27001 for information security management and ISO 20000-1 for IT service management.
The company will be chaired by Irish Technology Leadership Group founder and president John Hartnett.
“The biotech market is more than a US$500bn industry worldwide that is ripe for outsourcing technology services,” said Hartnett.
“Daybreak offers unique end-to-end technology solutions for major global corporations like Elan, as well as scaling biotech companies,” he added.
