Career Zoo returns to the Convention Centre Dublin on 14 September, with expectations that this will be its biggest event to date.
Almost 9,000 delegates attended the last Career Zoo event in February, and the next event is expected to build on this figure once again.
“This will be our sixth Career Zoo, drawing a very exciting line-up of employers – both Irish and multinational – who will be looking to engage with skilled professionals and grads,” said Career Zoo director Brian Ó hOisín.
“As always, there is a major focus on opportunities in ICT, with 48pc of attendees at the last event looking for opportunities in this sector. There is also a strong focus on engineering, sales and finance roles,” he added.
Murex and Irish Research Council confirmed
In February, companies such as Amazon, Accenture, Workday, AOL, Johnson & Johnson, Ericsson and ESB International hosted stands in the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) and, this year, event sponsor Murex will be seeking to meet computer engineers and financial software consultants to join its teams in Dublin, Paris and other international offices.
Another highlight will be the opportunities coming from Irish research and the Irish Research Council, another event sponsor, will once again host its annual symposium in tandem with Career Zoo. Hundreds of researchers are expected to attend and PhD researchers and post-graduates will have the opportunity to showcase their work and meet with potential employers.
“There is an expectation that after completing a PhD, graduates will continue on the academic research or teaching route. The reality is that graduates end up in a much wider range of career areas,” said Dr Eucharia Meehan, director of the Irish Research Council. “Career Zoo provides a platform for this potential, enabling employers to engage with highly skilled researchers and vice versa.”
As well as employers, course providers will also be showcasing upskilling opportunities and conversion programmes.
Registration is now open for the free event, which will also play host to workshops, a Research Hub and a Career Clinic, and see the return of tech-based activities in the Tech Box.
