Web design has changed in recent years, what with mobile devices and responsive design entering the equation. This week’s career memes pay tongue-in-tribute to those who pull all those factors together – web designers.
What they do: Web designers create the look, ‘feel’ and layout of a website, and its associated features, and maintain and may build upon these features. They may often work with development teams, project managers and clients.
What they don’t do: Spin cobwebs.
Educational requirements: An associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree. A background in graphic design and/or computer programming is also useful.
Required skills: Strong understanding of programming lanaguages and graphics software, ability to meet deadlines and take and work with feedback.
Salary: In Ireland, a web designer can expect to earn an average salary of €28,736, according to PayScale.com.
