Citrix acquires cloud productivity player Podio
Enterprise software giant Citrix has bought cloud collaborative work platform player Podio for an undisclosed sum. Danish firm Podio allows workers to collaborate on various projects in a social network-style setting.
The company enables small firms right up to large corporations to allow distributed teams to collaborate via the cloud over social media on any device.
Podio provides firms that wish to enable collaborative working via distributed teams with a robust cloud platform.
The platform provides the teams with social elements, such as real-time status updates, the ability to share and manage tasks and comment and give feedback.
Podio also integrates with popular cloud-based platforms, such as Dropbox, Evernote, Google Apps, Google Docs, Instapaper and Zendesk.
Citrix plans to offer Podio as part of its GoTo cloud services portfolio.
“This acquisition represents an exciting new chapter in our collaboration business. Podio extends our ability to provide a simple, secure and 'works for everyone' collaborative work platform in this post-PC era," said Brett Caine, SVP and GM for Citrix Online Services Division.
“The Podio technology is a powerful and innovative solution that is a natural fit with the Citrix portfolio and will help foster amazing innovation in the workplace. We are also excited about having the Podio team as part of our organisation. They are an extraordinarily talented and visionary group, who share our passion for improving the way work is done," Caine said.
