Microsoft’s motion-sensing gaming device Kinect will be released in Europe on 10 November 2010.
It will arrive in stores four days after its US launch in time for the Christmas rush.
Microsoft announced the release date just one day before its appearance at Gamescom, Europe’s largest gaming trade show.
It is set to retail at €149.99 in European stores, according to a Microsoft spokesperson.
Kinect allows the player to control games using their body, voice and hand gestures. Microsoft hopes to revitalise the console market with this new technology.
“When Kinect launches on 10 November, it’s not just transformative for our business but its set to change how you use entertainment,” said Chris Lewis, vice-president of Interactive Entertainment Business for Microsoft Europe.
“You become the controller, giving you the choice in how you and your friends navigate entertainment and gaming experiences.
“We’re already seeing a high level of anticipation in Europe with sales of the Kinect ready Xbox 360 250GB creating an all-time record weekly market share,” he said.
The Kinect is set to compete with Sony’s motion-controlled Move feature for the PS3. Sony will release Move in Irish stores on 17 September.
