RIM to release 64GB BlackBerry PlayBook

19 Oct 2010

RIM has confirmed the release of a 64GB model of its tablet offering, the BlackBerry PlayBook, along with the 16GB and 32GB models.

The company announced extra details on its tablet to rival to the iPad and other Android-based tablets at its DevCon conference.

The PlayBook will also receive a 5300 mAh battery, suggesting it will be equal or better than other tablet rivals.

These new bits of information add to the PlayBook’s growing list of features.

The 7-inch slate will run on a 1GHz dual-core processor and will have the new BlackBerry Tablet OS.

It comes with support for Adobe Flash 10.1, HTML5 and Adobe AIR.

It will include dual HD video cameras (5MP on the front and 3MP on the back) and a HDMI output.

The Playbook is expected to launch in the US in early 2011, with rollouts in other international markets beginning in the second quarter of next year.
