Gingerbread to arrive on Google’s Nexus One?
Google may update the Nexus One’s Android operating system with version 2.3, also known as Gingerbread, according to a tweet found by the blog The Android Phone.
The tweet came from Alvaro Fuentes Vasquez, who is on the “leadership team” of the Open Handset Alliance, which is one of the governing bodies who back Android.
Google Translate interprets Vasquez’s tweet as: “Prepare your Nexus One (Developer version) for Android OTA update 2.3 (Gingerbread) for the next few days :-D”
Google’s Nexus Two is said to be revealed today, but other rumours claim it could be happening later this week, which would tie in nicely with this possible Gingerbread announcement.
British Monarchy joins Facebook
Britain’s royal family has set up an official Facebook page to offer “Royal news and events.”
The page is a collaboration between Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and the Royal collection.
It will feature news, links, videos and photographs, mainly of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry.
It has gone live today and marks the fourth social networking profile the UK monarchy has set up. It previously made a YouTube channel, a Twitter profile and a photostream for Flickr.
Space Brains app launched for Science Week Ireland
Discover Science and Engineering (DSE) has launched a Space Brains app for the iPod touch and iPhone to help users find out more about space, from what year man first stepped on the moon to how many planets there are in the solar system.
It supports the theme of Science Week Ireland of “Our Place in Space.” There are more than 1,000 questions on this quiz app. Users will be challenged on years, dates for space exploration and space trivia questions.
The Space Brains app is available for free on the iTunes store or on the Science Week Ireland website.
