MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS – Samsung took the wraps off two of its newest gadgets at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona – a new Galaxy Beam that lets users beam content like video and photos directly onto walls in 50-inch wide displays and a new Galaxy Tab 2 series of tablet computers which will debut in March in 7-inch and 10.1-inch formats.

The Galaxy Beam smartphone will come with a 15 lumens projector that will transmit photos, video and web content onto walls, ceilings and other flat surfaces in high definition up to 50 inches wide.

The smartphone comes with a 5-megapixel camera.

Samsung says the device is also being tipped at the gaming fraternity, with more than 1,000 games that can be beamed onto the 50-inch wall/ceiling display.

The device is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and will have a Google Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS.

The new Galaxy Tab 2 series will be both 3G and Wi-Fi capable and will be powered by Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). They will be tuned to handle HSPA+ wireless broadband with speeds of up to 12Mbps possible via 3G.

The main camera at the rear will be 3 megapixel, while the front camera will have VGA for video calls.

A 1GH dual-core processor will power both tablet computers.
