Samsung posted an invite on its website, confirming a press event on 3 May which invites guests to view “the next galaxy.”
The consumer technology company previously said it would unveil its next flagship Android smartphone in the first half of 2012.
Samsung’s Galaxy S range of smartphones has proven to be quite popular in high-end Android devices. It sold 20m models of the Samsung Galaxy S II 10 months after its release.
Rumours about the spec of the next Samsung Galaxy S smartphone have emerged in recent months. It could have a 4.8-inch, 1080p resolution display and may run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
It may include 4G LTE connectivity and could run on an Exnyos quad-core chip.
It may also have an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Nothing will be confirmed until the press event on 3 May.
