A thief who creeped into Microsoft’s campus in Silicon Valley nicked five iPads but left Microsoft products untouched, police have said.
More than US$3,000 in Apple products – two iPad 2s, two iPad 3s and a fourth-generation iPad – were stolen from three offices in Microsoft’s research and development complex in Mountain View, California, over the holidays.
Microsoft believes the crime took place between 19-26 December, The Register reported, and police are waiting for CCTV footage from the campus.
In its report, The Register said it’s possible the thief got his or her hands on unreleased Microsoft apps with the Apple devices.
The campus is where Microsoft develops Apple hardware.
