The HTC One
After months of speculation, the successor to the incredibly popular HTC One will be given its grand unveiling on 25 March in New York and London.
The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer has yet to give the new flagship phone an official name, but journalists across the world began receiving emails inviting them to the big event and receiving confirmation from HTC’s spokespeople.
What is known about the device is that it goes under the codename ‘M8’ and speculation suggests it will appear fairly similar to its predecessor in screen size and general design.
One of the most obvious changes is that leaked photos indicate the phone’s physical interface buttons will disappear in favour of a touchscreen-only interface.
In terms of spec, there are arguments over whether the M8’s release will be too early to see the inclusion of the latest version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 processor, which would be a major blow to the company if it is to launch an older version processor in its flagship phone.
The company has been under increased pressure in recent months, as it posted a decline in profits for 2013 and the company’s own CEO has stated they got too caught up in the development and sale of higher-priced phones and will put more of its focus on the cheaper handsets in a bid to tackle the developing markets.
