Indicating its considerable growth this year, Amazon has launched a dedicated section on its website for everything to do with wearable technology.
Included in the list of items currently on sale, are activity trackers, smartwatches and wearable cameras, which have been predicted as the leading technology for 2014.
As of its launch date, the section contains most, if not all, of the top brands including Samsung, Jawbone and GoPro as well as encouraging some of the smaller emerging brands like Basis and Misfit and other devices coming soon from brands like Narrative and Bionym.
The wearable technology page is currently split into the five key categories of ‘fitness & wellness’, ‘healthcare devices’, ‘wearable cameras’, ‘family, kids & pets’ and, of course, ‘smartwatches’.
Given that there would still remain a large number of customers unfamiliar with the ins and outs and trends in wearable tech, an editor’s corner will feature some of the most interesting and innovative wearable tech once it hits the market.
“Wearable technology is an exciting category with rapid innovation and our customers are increasingly coming to Amazon to shop and learn about these devices,” said John Nemeth, director of wireless and mobile electronics at Amazon in the company’s statement.
“We’re thrilled to bring our customers a store with the largest selection and great prices that helps eliminate the guesswork when deciding which wearable devices best fit their needs—whether that is tracking activity, staying connected through smart watches or capturing their next adventure with wearable cameras.”
