Well it’s here and the first lucky buyers will be unboxing and comparing their new super-sized iPhone 6 Plus with the older models. Here’s our first look at the device.
No doubt these new devices were in high demand internationally today. Last week Apple sold 10m of its 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus smartphones after they went on sale in the US and other large markets.
Today it was Ireland and many other countries’ opportunity to see the device and hopefully there were enough to go around.
We managed to get our hands on a sample iPhone 6 Plus from Vodafone. Available nationwide the iPhone 6 will be available starting at €49.99 on contract from Vodafone while the iPhone 6 Plus will be available starting at €149.99 on contract. Customers can now order both models at www.vodafone.ie/iphone
The iPhone 6 Plus delivers up to 24 hours of 3G talk time, 12 hours of LTE internet use, up to 14 hours of video playback, or 80 hours of audio playback.
The device is powered by the new A8 processor which is 84 times faster than the processor in the very first iPhone that debuted seven years ago.

First impressions
First Look | Apple iPhone 6 Plus
A few hours with the device and it is remarkable just how natural it feels in your hands.
Everyone is expecting a big device and proportionately it looks massive beside the older iPhone 5 smartphone for example, but after a couple of moments it feels just right.
The bigger screen does not necessarily mean a heavier device and it feels remarkably light.
The device when flipped sideways changes the interface to a landscape mode which while new makes you wonder why no one has done this before with an iPhone.
That’s probably because we are entering tablet territory. The iPhone 6 Plus is essentially a phablet, half phone half tablet.
Despite all the kerfuffle over bending iPhone 6 devices, the phone feels quite durable and its hard to imagine anyone going out of their way to purposely bend or distort the device.
We only had a few hours with the iPhone 6 Plus and first impressions are favourable.
