Social media platform Twitter is on the cusp of unveiling a new Vine-like video tool for its mobile app that allows users to record and share 20-second bursts of video.
Right now, video is where it is at and in recent days Facebook revealed video posts per user were up 75pc in the past year and that more than 1bn videos per day were being posted on the social network.
Twitter no doubt sees video as vital to continued engagement amongst its users and the new in-app platform will allow users to shoot, edit and post video directly through their mobile app.
The new native video allows users to upload video from their smartphones gallery or shoot directly from within the app.
Unlike Vine, which only allows six-second bursts, the new native app will have a 20-second time limit, according to Re/Code.
It is understood that Twitter told investors in November that a native video tool was planned for the first half of 2015.
