Following last year’s release of Xiaomi’s well-priced 49-inch Mi TV 2, the Chinese manufacturer has brought out a new version that’s 40 inches and, for some reason, also called the Mi TV 2.
It has a 1080p display – as opposed to last year’s 4k device – and comes in at less than half the price, US$322.
The full HD LED Sharp SDP X-GEN panel screen is obviously on an Andorid OS and powered by an MStar 6A908 Cortex-A9 quad-core 1.45GHz CPU, and Mali-450 MP4 4+2-core GPU, storing 1.5gb of RAM and 8gb of memory.
It’s a little thinner than its predecessor, at 14.5mm, with its 10-bit hardware decoding allowing for plenty of video formats.
Xiaomi is pushing its content, obviously, pitching this as a “game arcade and an entertainment hub,” which follows its claims last year to invest US$1bn in online video content.

A quick poll by the company seems to validate its reasoning behind developing this iteration of the Mi TV 2, with it appearing twice as popular as its more powerful predecessor.
As yet, it’s only available in China.
