The public sector is beginning to embrace recent advances in technology, such as cloud computing, social media, PDAs and smartphones. Why? Because, apart from the obvious cost savings that can be made, emerging communications technologies, if implemented properly, can allow the public sector to improve overall productivity and efficiency across the board. This forum will examine, amongst other things, what public-sector IT departments can gain from adopting new technologies like cloud computing. Ultimately, this forum seeks to determine how we can put the wheels in motion to make Ireland a world leader in delivering e-services that are responsive to citizens' needs and help to make the IT leaders' jobs easier and more productive.
