It seems so long ago since Amazon released a dedicated e-reader version of the Kindle, but now the company’s CEO has confirmed that a new eighth-generation version of the device is coming in the near future.
After receiving considerable praise in recent times for some of its latest devices like the Amazon Echo, the humble Kindle e-reader, which remains one of Amazon’s earliest and most successful devices, appears to be making a comeback.
The last time Amazon released a Kindle e-reader was back towards the end of 2014, with the Kindle Voyage marketed as being one of the most upmarket versions of the e-reader, with it priced in the €200 range.
Having recently announced the successful landing of the New Shepard rocket as part of his other space endeavour, Blue Origin, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos took to Twitter to announce the news that a new Kindle e-reader is indeed incoming.

Unfortunately, for those considering an upgrade of their Kindle, they will have to wait a little bit longer before we hear any information on what the device will be, but only a week, according to Bezos.
One of the biggest questions over the eighth generation Kindle will be whether it will be released as a newer model of the Kindle Paperwhite, which remains the most popular and affordable of its two major models, the other being the aforementioned and more expensive Kindle Voyage.
