Spin-out company Celtic Catalysts has won the Application of R&D category at the 2011 Irish Times InterTradeIreland Innovation Awards.
Co-founded in 2000 by Prof Declan Gilheany and Dr Brian Kelly of University College Dublin’s School of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Celtic Catalysts has developed ground-breaking chemistry that enables its end-user clients in the pharmaceutical, biotech and fine chemicals industries to realise significant manufacturing cost savings.
The company’s technology and products are now integrated into the manufacture of a number of potential blockbuster drugs in development by major well-known pharmaceutical companies.
Headquartered in NovaUCD, the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre, Celtic Catalysts is continuing to expand both its research and development operations in Dublin and its UK production facility, which it opened in 2009.
