A teenager in Manchester has been arrested under the UK Computer Misuse Act after he allegedly managed to hack into the Call of Duty: Black Ops servers and change the games rules.
The 17-year-old used a program called ‘Phenom Booter’ to launch a denial of services attack and alter the rules.
This allowed some players to score highly while others were completely blocked.
Manchester Metropolitan Police said the incident of hacking could often be the precursor to further forms of online crime.
The software used to hack into the Call of Duty: Black Ops servers was available to buy on a Call of Duty web forum.
