Openleaks set to rival WikiLeaks for business

10 Dec 2010

A new website that is aiming to provide the same service as WikiLeaks is due to launch on Monday by a former co-worker of Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks.

The new site, which will be called Openleaks, will assist anonymous sources in delivering sensitive material to public attention, according to the Associated Press.

Openleaks will be a ‘service provider for third parties that want to be able to accept material from anonymous sources’ and will be based in Germany.

The man involved in the website is former WikiLeaks spokesman Daniel Domscheit-Berg, who left WikiLeaks in 2009.

The new website will rival WikiLeaks, which has come under increasing pressure since the release of the US embassy cables that reveal sensitive information about the US.
