Tweetbeat, a service that has collected every single Oscar-related tweet since the Academy Award nominations were announced last month, has released its findings, that is, who is most likely to win an Oscar this Sunday night.
Tweetbeat has aggregated tens of thousands of Twitter users’ guesses, and, according to this ‘Twitterverse’, The King’s Speech will win the Oscar for best picture, with 31.4pc of Twitter users’ support. Next is The Social Network, with 13.7pc support, then Black Swan, with 10.9 support, Inception, with 10.6pc, and True Grit, with 8.1pc.
The five other nominees for best picture, The Fighter, 127 Days, Toy Story 3, Winter’s Bone, and The Kids are Alright all drew less than 8pc support.
Black Swan star Natalie Portman drew support from 54.4pc of Twitter users, making her the top prediction to win the best actress Oscar. Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole) followed with 16.7pc support, then Annette Bening (The Kids Are All Right), with 11pc, Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone), with 10.6pc, and Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine), with 7.3pc.
The best actor Oscar is going to go to Colin Firth, for his role as King George VI in The King’s Speech, the ‘Twitterverse’ has predicted. Firth drew 56.4pc support, Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) garnered 14.1pc, and James Franco (127 Hours), Javier Bardem (Biutiful), and Jeff Bridges (True Grit) received 12.3pc, 10.6pc, and 6.5pc support, respectively.
The Oscars will be handed out at a ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday.
