St Patrick’s Day was RTÉ Player’s largest single day of traffic, with more than 117,000 streams delivered.
The service introduced live content this week and, as a result, showed the Dublin St Patrick’s Festival parade and events from around the country as they happened yesterday.
More than 2m videos are watched through RTÉ Player every month and the broadcaster expects this to increase, thanks to the introduction of live content.

Its website attracted 320,000 unique browsers. Some 130,000 of those were from abroad.
The most viewed story was Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s visit to America, which was followed by US President Barack Obama’s announcement that he would visit Ireland in May.
RTÉ’s YouTube channel was viewed more than 70,000 times, where the broadcaster aired clips of archived footage of previous parades, along with St Patrick’s Day messages from the Hardy Bucks and The Outlaw Concy Ryan.
