Internet teen sensation Rebecca Black’s song Friday has surpassed Justin Bieber’s Baby to become the most-disliked video on YouTube.
The video for Friday has amassed 1,159,173 dislikes at time of writing, topping the 1,156,913 dislikes for Baby.
The song about the weekend by the 13-year-old aspiring singer from Anaheim Hills, California, has gone viral. Friday has come under harsh criticism globally, however, with The Independent in the UK calling it “the worst song ever” and the majority of feedback on Twitter being negative towards the video and the simplistic lyrics of the song.
Internet search giant Yahoo has even asked, “Is YouTube sensation Rebecca Black’s Friday the worst song ever?” The negative feedback has not gone unnoticed, and Black, in her first interview since the song has been released, told The Daily Beast, “At times, it feels like I’m being cyber bullied.”
Friday and its accompanying video was first put on YouTube in early February, and it has earned Black about US$20,000, Forbes reported. Other reports have said Black has bagged a record deal, as well.
