Using Facebook photos may just have gotten faster and easier with the release of the social network’s new photo-sharing mobile app Camera.
The app allows users to take multiple pictures and edit the shots they have just taken or those already on their camera rolls. The editing features include cropping, rotating and adding filters.
Users of the Camera app will also be able to share their photos at once rather than having to upload them one at a time.
“Just select the shots you want to share by tapping the check mark on each photo and then hit post. You’ll have a chance to add a caption, say where you were and tag friends before you share,” Facebook said in a statement.
The app also lets users see a feed of their friends’ photos and users can swipe to see more of any album or tap to enlarge an individual photo.
The release of Camera comes as Facebook is in the midst of completing its US$1bn acquisition of Instagram, an app that offers may of the same features as Camera.
Camera works only on Apple’s tablets and smartphones for now, and Facebook did not mention when the app might be released for other systems.
To get Camera, users may search for ‘Facebook Camera’ in the App Store.
