#Euro2012 – Thai Tims’ ‘Rocky Road to Poland’ goes viral (video)

13 Jun 2012

The endearing sights and sounds of a class of Thai schoolkids offering their rendition of Damien Dempsey’s The Rocky Road to Poland has become a YouTube hit.

At the time of writing, there were in excess of 160,000 views of the Thai Tims’ rendition of the song.

The Thai Tims, a class of more than 40 Thai schoolkids, are best known for their support of Celtic Football Club.

In the spirited video, they are sporting Celtic Football Club jerseys and belt the song out with a soaring ‘You’ll never beat the Irish’ refrain.

The Rocky Road to Poland by Damien Dempsey was chosen as the official Republic of Ireland song for the UEFA Euro 2012 campaign.

Fans of Celtic Football Club are among of the biggest supporters of the Good Child Foundation for whom the Thai Tims travel the world raising support.
The link between the Thai Tims and Celtic was strengthened by Celtic supporter Reamonn Gormley who taught English in Thailand during a gap year through the Good Child Foundation.

Sadly Gormley was killed in a knife attack in Scotland last year.

But Gormley’s work in Thailand left a lasting impression and a memorial was erected in his honour in that country.
