Best time to tweet or post to Facebook for click-throughs (infographic)

18 Jun 2012

Don’t tweet important information on Twitter after 8pm and don’t even think about after 3pm on Fridays, unless it’s breaking news. That’s according to a new infographic that takes information from a recent bitly report to illustrate the best time to tweet or post to Facebook for click-throughs.

The infographic designed by digital agency Raka and published on Visual.ly highlights the best times in which to share content on microblogging site Twitter and social network Facebook to drive traffic to a website.

The bitly report reveals that the best time to post to Twitter is 1-3pm, Mondays to Thursdays, while the best time to post content on Facebook is even more specific: 3pm on Wednesdays for the absolute highest average click-throughs.

On Facebook, traffic picks up at about 9am and drops off after 4pm, but wait until 11am to put up content if you’re seeking plenty of click-throughs, according to the infographic. Links posted on Facebook between 1-4pm in the middle of the week draw the most click-throughs.

Twitter receives the most traffic between 9am-3pm, Mondays to Thursdays, however, this high-traffic period means you may face more competition for click-throughs from others tweeting their content, so choose what you post wisely.

Avoid posting on Twitter and Facebook on the weekends, as well, when links are more likely to receive less attention.
