Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin has confirmed Christian Bale will star in the forthcoming movie about Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs, to be based on Walter Isaacson’s biography.
Danny Boyle will serve as director on the project.
Sorkin, who will write the script, is also the writer behind The Social Network, which attempted to tell the back story of Facebook and its co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Sorkin confirmed the Jobs movie is going ahead in an interview with Bloomberg.
“We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale,” Sorkin said.
“We didn’t have to audition.”
Isaacson’s biography of Jobs, titled Steve Jobs, hit bookshops shortly after Jobs’ death on 5 October 2011. The book had been written with the co-operation of Jobs himself, along with family, close friends and colleagues.
Speaking of the task ahead of Bale, Sorkin said, “The role is an extremely difficult one. He will have more words to say in this movie than most people will have to say in three movies combined.
“There isn’t a scene or frame he’s not in and there’s a tremendous amount of language.
“So, it’s an extremely difficult part and he’s going to crush it.”
