Christian Bale bails on opportunity to play Steve Jobs

4 Nov 2014

Just weeks after allegedly confirming he’d take the role, it now appears that actor Christian Bale has decided he no longer wants to play Steve Jobs in the forthcoming Aaron Sorkin-scripted movie of the same name.

The movie, which is being directed by Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle, is based on Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography.

Despite Sorkin publicly confirming that Bale, best known for his depiction of Batman, would take the part of the Apple co-founder it turns out that discussions had never reached fruition.

“We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale,” Sorkin said at the time. “We didn’t have to audition.”

It is understood that the producers of the movie are also in discussions with Seth Rogen to play the part of Steve Wozniak.

The role of Jobs is also understood to have been passed over by Leonardo DiCaprio.
