YouTube has been forced to update its systems after South Korean K-Pop singer Psy’s popular Gangnam Style video hit so many views it exceeded the number the video-sharing platform could count.
The video, famed for its galloping dance moves, was first uploaded onto YouTube in July 2012 and has gone on to become the site’s most popular video, with more than 2bn views.
As pointed out by NME, the number of times Gangnam Style has been viewed worldwide now exceeds the 32-bit integer mark, which required YouTube to upgrade in order to keep the video accessible.
“We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer (=2,147,483,647 views), but that was before we met PSY,” wrote the company in a Google+ post.
“Gangnam Style has been viewed so many times we have to upgrade!”
Here’s the video in all its original glory.
