The world’s biggest technology company Hewlett-Packard (HP) is to create 500 jobs in Leixlip as part of a major expansion to create a global services desk.
HP already employs 4,000 people in Ireland. The company said the decision to locate here was driven by the ability to tap in to highly skilled labour and talent pools.
The multi-lingual technical support centre will employ a range of people, including high-end graduates.
The new global services desk operation will include an element of R&D.
It is understood that 300 of the 500 new jobs are to be brought online immediately.
The new global services desk will deal with HP customers in 16 countries.
