ThoughtBox, a new educational software provider that encourages children to discover maths principles through games and apps, has won the Blueface Business Elevator competition. The finals, which saw start-ups pitch to win €60,000 worth of business services, took place in Dublin on Saturday.

In all, nine-start-ups from the technology, food, medical, sports and retail sectors took part in the finals.

ThoughtBox won €60,000 worth of business services after the company’s business pitch won over the judges, including the economist Constantin Gurdgiev.

Speaking after the win, ThoughtBox founder and CEO Cristina Luminea said the prize will help the business as part of its growth plans.

The competition process began in May. Qualification events took place in Drogheda, Kilkenny, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Carrick-on-Shannon.

Blueface CEO Alan Foy spoke about how the initiative aims to highlight and promote innovative and exciting start-ups in Ireland.

ThoughtBox took part in the LaunchPad accelerator at the NDRC last year.
