Around 0.029pc of Google Gmail users have been affected by a glitch that has deleted their email, attachments and Google Chat logs. However, engineers are confident all the data will be restored.
It is understood that a bug reset Gmail users’ accounts to the first time they logged on.
The problem affects about 150,000 of the popular email service’s users. According to the Google Apps Dashboard, the problem was discovered at 8.09pm last night and its engineering team is investigating the issue.
Two hours later, Google’s Gmail team posted: “For those Gmail users reporting missing messages, our engineers are working to restore them as soon as possible.”
