Sony to close PlayStation Mobile platform

11 Mar 2015

Sony is calling time on its floundering PlayStation Mobile store after just two-and-a-half years.

Launched in 2012, the platform initially offered indie games and PlayStation classics for both the PS Vita and some Android phones.

After struggling to take off, Android support was dropped last August, and now the service is ceasing altogether.

Distribution of content will end on 15 July, and come 10 September, users won’t be able to re-download any games they’ve bought in the past.

Sony will, however, allow customers to access content they’ve previously purchased after that date if they complete the device activation process outlined on the Playstation website.
