Bloomberg PolarLake’s CTO Warren Buckley stopped by Silicon Republic’s stand at Career Zoo in Dublin recently to talk tech, jobs and a booming industry in Ireland.
Through acquiring, managing and distributing financial data sets – including reference, ratings, price, position, trade, entity and corporate actions – software solutions company Bloomberg PolarLake’s immersion in big data gives the company an ideal view of the latest changes in the employment scene in Ireland.
“Ireland is becoming known as a big data centre, we see this ourselves,” explains Buckley, who feels people love working with big data and, with the broadening out of what we call ‘tech jobs’, more people are bringing fresh ideas into the industry.
“It’s bringing in people from engineering, mathematics, people who are not necessarily from computer science backgrounds.”
