On 25 September, more than 500 young people in Ireland filmed a moment in their daily lives to form part of RTÉ’s Life’s Like This documentary project. A series of documentary films created from this footage will be broadcast throughout the day today on RTÉ Two.
On the hour up until 7pm, a short three-minute segment will reflect the lives of young people during that hour. The user-generated clips that make up the documentary feature more than 1,200 young people from all 26 counties and abroad, including a snippet from an Irish-American family in New Jersey. Film crews also took to the streets on 25 September to capture moments for the project.
There are currently 1.2m people under the age of 18 living in Ireland today, and RTÉ Young People’s department and Macalla Teo hope to capture what life is like for them ahead of the Children Referendum taking place on Saturday, 10 November.
Other programmes from RTÉ Young People’s department, such as elev8 and Two Tube, will also be participating in this channel-wide event.
As the broadcast goes on, all 12 films for Life’s Like This will be added to the online timeline.
