Those attending the National Ploughing Championships this week will be able to find their way around beforehand as it’s the first event in Ireland to get its own Google Street View map.

Provided by Bank of Ireland, one of the country’s biggest outdoor events will get be viewable in 360 degrees online across the site’s 800 acres which is expected to have over 1,400 exhibitor stands as well as giving those who don’t fancy the mud to see what it would be like from the comfort of their couch.

250,000 people are expected to attend the event taking place over the three-day event with the 360 degree photospheres being shot today just 24 hours before the Championships open.  Once the imaging has been processed and uploaded online, the map will then be live in time for the opening of the event.

Sean Farrell, head of agriculture at Bank of Ireland’s business banking division said:  “We are very excited to use Google mapping at a large scale event. This will be of enormous assistance to both exhibitors and visitors and is further evidence of how technology is changing our lives.

“The Bank has had a long and very successful association with the National Ploughing Championships and delivering a first at this event is very important to us.”
