Subscription-based music-streaming service Deezer will mark turning one year old with a celebration featuring UK bands Slow Club and The Staves, plus an exclusive acoustic set from Conor O’Brien’s Villagers, which will be streamed online around the world.
The birthday party-cum-gig will take place in London’s Hospital Club on Wednesday, 10 October, and the line-up has been specially selected by Deezer, which prides itself on its strong editorial approach to music recommendations.
The gig will be streamed live to Deezer subscribers in 91 territories via the website and mobile website.
Villagers, fronted by O’Brien, is an award-winning and critically acclaimed Irish band with a new album on the way in January. The group is best known for the title track on its first album, Becoming a Jackal, which scooped the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically in 2011.
Deezer first launched in the UK last September and reached Ireland in December, so October seems a happy medium for Deezer UK and Ireland’s birthday.
