The TEC Gateway in the Nimbus Centre at Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) will be hosting an Industry Open Day on Friday, 20 June, with a top prize of €5,000 worth of research funding on offer.
The open day is due to have speakers from industry, Enterprise Ireland and CIT describing technology innovation and funding services offered to start-ups, SMEs and large enterprises across Ireland along with a technology demonstration and networking opportunities.
As part of the Nimbus Centre, TEC Gateway is Ireland’s only research centre dedicated to the internet of things (IoT) that will soon make our household items from the dishwasher to the heating system, inter-connected and controllable through Wi-Fi and on the homeowner’s mobile devices.
The centre’s 80 research engineers specialise in developing prototypes for clients ranging from international corporations to individuals and are now looking for new teams to compete and develop similar technologies.
The agenda for the open day will feature a presentation by Enterprise Ireland regarding funding mechanisms including how to avail of the funding schemes for innovative projects, presentations by industry clients who have successfully worked with TEC Gateway in the past.
There is also due to be presentations from the Mallow Systems Innovation Centre and the National Sustainable Energy Test Bed as well as technology demonstrations.
The open day runs from 9.30am to 2pm, Friday 20 June from the Nimbus Centre in CIT and pre-registration is required.
